Patterson intentionally possessed two loaded handguns— a 40 caliber semi-automatic and a .380 caliber semi-automatic—on February 27, 2025. His prior Louisiana State conviction disqualified him from firearm possession, yet he acted with intent to possess these weapons.

The offense is severe under Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(1), carrying potential penalties of up to 15 years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, three years of supervised release, and an mandatory special assessment fee of $100.

Sentencing for Patterson has been scheduled for October 7, 2025. The investigation leading to this conviction was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant United States Attorney Chandra Menon handling the prosecution from the Public Integrity Unit.
