New Orleans Felon Pleads Guilty to Gun Possession

New Orleans’ Haven Patterson, 42, has been found guilty of being a felon in possession of firearms. The verdict comes after a court hearing on July 8, 2025.

Patterson intentionally possessed two loaded handguns— a 40 caliber semi-automatic and a .380 caliber semi-automatic—on February 27, 2025. His prior Louisiana State conviction disqualified him from firearm possession, yet he acted with intent to possess these weapons.

The offense is severe under Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(1), carrying potential penalties of up to 15 years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, three years of supervised release, and an mandatory special assessment fee of $100.
