New York Woman Pleads Guilty to Child Exploitation

New York woman, SASHA MAY, formerly known as Owen May, has pleaded guilty to a child exploitation offense, according to David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. The 24-year-old from Pelham, New York, waived her right to be indicted and appeared before U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley in Bridgeport.

Between December 2023 and May 2024, court documents reveal that May engaged in online conversations with an undercover law enforcement officer using the messaging platforms Kik and Whisper. During these exchanges, May disclosed her sexual interest in children and distributed child pornography.

Pleading guilty to possession and access with intent to view child pornography, May faces a maximum term of 20 years imprisonment. Judge Dooley has scheduled sentencing for October 16, 2024. May was arrested on August 26, 2024, and is currently released on a $100,000 bond with home confinement and electronic monitoring.

This case is the result of an investigation led by the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force, in collaboration with the Greenwich Police Department and the Pelham (N.Y.) Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Lembo is prosecuting this matter.

Part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood Initiative, this prosecution aims to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
