Buffalo Man Sentenced for Child Pornography Offenses

BUFFALO, NEW YORK – A Buffalo man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his involvement in child pornography, according to U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr.

Daniel Cay, 26, was convicted of possession of child pornography after a forensic examination of his computer revealed over 300 images of child pornography, including some that depicted violence against children.

The Buffalo Police Department received information that Cay possessed child pornography on his computer, leading to his arrest in January 2013.

This is not Cay’s first brush with the law. He was previously convicted in 2006 for Sexual Assault of a Minor 2nd Degree in Connecticut.

The investigation into Cay’s activities was a joint effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Daniel Derenda.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo handled the case and stated that the sentencing is the culmination of a thorough investigation.

The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Richard J. Arcara, bringing an end to the case.

Cay’s 10-year sentence serves as a reminder of the severe consequences of engaging in child pornography and other sex crimes.
