John Luchetti, Receipt of Child Pornography, New York 2006

BUFFALO, N.Y. — U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced that John Luchetti, 27, of Buffalo, N.Y., was sentenced to 96 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara for his involvement in the receipt of child pornography.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Maura K. O’Donnell, who handled the case, Luchetti was convicted of receipt of child pornography in connection with his possession of numerous images of child pornography, some depicting prepubescent minors, and some depicting sadistic or masochistic conduct, and his use of an Internet file-sharing program to receive and distribute the images.

This case is the culmination of an investigation by Special Agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge James C. Spero.

The sentencing marks the latest in a series of high-profile cases brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006.

Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov.

Luchetti’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the severity of child pornography crimes and the commitment of law enforcement agencies to hold perpetrators accountable.

Those responsible for the exploitation and abuse of children will be brought to justice, and the Grimy Times will continue to provide in-depth coverage of this critical issue.
