A Buffalo man has been handed a lengthy prison sentence for producing and distributing child pornography.
Michael Bevill, 36, of Buffalo, NY, pleaded guilty to production of child pornography, a charge that carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years. The defendant was also hit with a $250,000 fine.
The crime allegedly occurred between June 2022, and August 2023, when Bevill engaged in prohibited sexual conduct with a minor child under 12-years-old. He produced photographs and video recordings of himself sexually abusing the minor child on multiple occasions. To make matters worse, Bevill admitted to giving the minor sedatives before creating the disturbing content.
Bevill distributed the visual depictions he produced to another individual using the Telegram messaging application, further exacerbating the severity of the crime.
The plea was a result of an investigation by the federal bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia. Assistant U.S. Attorney Franz T. Wright prosecuted the case, underscoring the gravity of the offense.
