TYLER, Texas – A disturbing case of child exploitation has reached a chilling conclusion as Enrique Adrian Gomez, 29, from Tyler, faces a 30-year federal prison sentence for producing child pornography.
Gomez pleaded guilty to the charge and was handed down a sentence of 360 months by U.S. District Judge Jeremy D. Kernodle on July 30, 2025. The man’s sinister activities came to light when he met two minors online, less than 13 years old at the time, and coerced them into participating in illegal sexual acts for his own gain.
According to court documents, Gomez communicated with his victims through text messaging and social media platforms from September to November 2021. The ease with which he was able to communicate with children serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking on these online platforms.
Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs emphasized the importance of parental vigilance, stating, ‘Gomez’s actions are a testament to the need for active and engaged parenting. Nothing can protect children better than parents who set clear limits and monitor their online activities.’ The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation.
Investigation into Gomez’s crimes was led by the Department of Homeland Security—Homeland Security Investigations and the Ilion, New York Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Austin Wells prosecuted the case.
The grim outcome of this case underscores the need for ongoing efforts to combat online predators and protect our children from such heinous acts. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, visit www.justice.gov/psc.
