The dark underbelly of a respected medical professional has been exposed, as Dr. David Blasczak, a 69-year-old physician from Newark, New York, pleaded guilty to three counts of receiving child pornography.
According to court documents, Blasczak subscribed to a website from his home that offered child pornography for purchase between September 1, 2015, and January 18, 2018. He created an account and purchased images and videos of child pornography, which were emailed to him.
The disturbing contents of these images and videos depicted prepubescent children engaged in sexual conduct with adults and other children, as well as prepubescent children, infants, and toddlers subjected to sexual abuse. In total, the defendant received and/or possessed approximately 2557 images and 78 videos depicting child pornography.
Blasczak’s guilty plea also revealed a more sinister side to his character. He admitted to hosting slumber parties at his home, attended by minor females between the ages of seven and 12, where he would enter their room, manipulate their clothing, and subject them to sexual contact. He also took photographs of the minors’ exposed private areas when he was able to remove their clothing.
In addition to his crimes, Blasczak stole children’s underwear for his sexual gratification and took nude photographs of the genitals of multiple minor female patients at his medical office. He would represent to parents that the photographs were needed for a ‘study,’ which was neither sanctioned, funded, nor approved by any official medical body or learning institution.
The investigation, led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly, involved interviews with close to 30 individuals who were exposed to some type of inappropriate conduct by the defendant.
Blasczak faces a combined maximum penalty of 60 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for November 20, 2018, at 9:15 a.m. before Judge Siragusa.
