Raymond Hopson, Crack Cocaine Distribution, New York 2016

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has leveled a heavy hand against Raymond Hopson and Lindsay Carrier, both aged 32 and residents of Niagara Falls, NY, as they face federal charges for a ruthless crack cocaine distribution operation.

Acting U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr., revealed that the duo was indicted by a federal grand jury on multiple counts, including conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 28 grams or more of crack cocaine base, possession and distribution of crack cocaine, and maintaining a drug involved premises. The charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison, potentially escalating to life imprisonment, with a fine of up to $5 million.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joel L. Violanti, overseeing the case, detailed how Hopson and Carrier, along with others, are accused of selling crack cocaine between July 2016 and May 2017 in the Niagara Falls area. The investigation was spearheaded by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) under Special Agent in Charge James J. Hunt and the Niagara Falls Police Department under Chief Bryan DalPorto.

It’s important to note that being charged with a crime does not equate to guilt; Hopson and Carrier are presumed innocent until proven otherwise.

The DEA and local law enforcement have been relentless in their pursuit of drug traffickers, and this recent indictment is another blow against the illicit trade in Niagara Falls.
