A Buffalo woman is headed to prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess and distribute heroin. Nina Rosario, 21, appeared in federal court and admitted to her role in the crime.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan T. Cullinane, Rosario conspired with others to sell heroin, a Schedule I controlled substance, from April 2018 until April 28, 2018. The defendant confirmed that she met with a source of supply and received approximately 20 grams of heroin, which she and her co-conspirator intended to distribute in Western New York.

The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Ray Donovan, New York Field Division. Rosario is set to be sentenced on December 12, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. before Chief U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr.

Rosario’s guilty plea comes with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine. The sentence will depend on the court’s decision. The public is advised to stay informed about the case as more information becomes available.

The case is a reminder of the ongoing war on narcotics and the efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the distribution of controlled substances. The community is urged to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
