Bronx Man Pleads Guilty to Heroin Distribution Charge

A 29-year-old Bronx resident has been convicted of distributing large quantities of heroin in Albany, New York.

Ronny Mota, of Bronx, New York, pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute over 100 grams of heroin.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Grant C. Jaquith and Special Agent in Charge Raymond P. Donovan, DEA, New York Division.

On December 5, 2018, Mota drove from New York City to Albany County to sell approximately 130 grams of heroin to another individual.

However, before they could meet with the buyer, the DEA arrested Mota and a co-conspirator in a motel parking lot in Colonie. Agents found the bag of heroin in a coffee cup next to the driver’s seat.

Mota faces at least 5 years and up to 40 years in prison, and at least 4 years of post-imprisonment supervised release, when he is sentenced by United States District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino on June 14, 2019.

This case was investigated by the DEA and its Capital District Drug Enforcement Task Force, which includes investigators from the Schenectady Police Department, Troy Police Department, and New York State Police. The Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the investigation.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Barnett.
