Norfolk AT&T Robbery Crew Gets 37 Years

NORFOLK, VA – Four Norfolk men are trading the Tidewater for federal lockup after receiving a combined 37 years in prison for a string of armed robberies targeting AT&T stores in early 2016. The crew systematically terrorized store employees, making off with a haul of electronics and cash totaling over $370,000.

The final nail in the coffin came today with the sentencing of Corey Holmes, 27, of Norfolk, to 121 months in prison. He joins Kendrick Perry, 23, Brice Keeling, 24, and Breon Berry, 25, all of Norfolk, who previously pleaded guilty and received their sentences. The group conspired to hit multiple AT&T locations, brazenly demanding cellphones, tablets, and cold, hard cash.

According to court documents, the robberies weren’t just about the money. The masked men brandished what appeared to be firearms, forcing employees to the floor, hogtying them with zip ties, and even seizing their personal phones and identification – a chilling tactic to establish where they lived. Keeling and Holmes pulled off two of the heists, while Keeling and Perry committed the third. Breon Berry was the designated getaway driver for all three.

The spree came to an abrupt end thanks to a sharp-eyed construction worker who jotted down the license plate of their fleeing vehicle during the final robbery. The plates led directly to Berry, who quickly confessed and ratted out his co-conspirators. Keeling and Perry weren’t far behind; they were apprehended in Columbia, South Carolina, attempting to fence the stolen electronics to an unsuspecting buyer.

Here’s a breakdown of the sentences:

The investigation was a joint effort by the FBI’s Norfolk Field Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, led by U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente and Special Agent in Charge Martin Culbreth. Assistant U.S. Attorney William D. Muhr prosecuted the case. Court documents related to United States v. Holmes et al.
