North Charleston Man Indicted for Threatening the President

A federal grand jury in Charleston, South Carolina, has returned an indictment against George Wesley Beers, Jr., age 39, of North Charleston, for threatening the President of the United States.

According to the indictment, Beers, Jr. has been charged with one count of threatening the President, a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 871. The maximum penalty he could receive is 5 years imprisonment.

The case was investigated by agents of the United States Secret Service and the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Rhett DeHart of the Charleston office for prosecution.

Beers, Jr. is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty, as stated by United States Attorney Bill Nettles.
