Donald Lawlor, Narcotics Conspiracy, Connecticut 2018

Norwalk’s own Donald Lawlor, 40, has been handed a severe comeuppance as he receives two years behind bars for his leadership in a southern Connecticut drug ring. United States Attorney John H. Durham announced the sentence from U.S. District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford.

Lawlor, who was arrested on November 8, 2018, admitted to using the telephone to facilitate the trafficking of narcotics. His plea came on September 11, 2019, after an intensive investigation by the FBI’s Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force and local law enforcement agencies.

The investigation, which spanned from the summer of 2017 until November 2019, led to charges against 19 defendants and the seizure of a vast array of drugs, firearms, and cash. Lawlor was caught on numerous recorded calls, providing aid to an associate who distributed heroin, fentanyl, oxycodone, cocaine, and crack in the Bridgeport area.

With his $100,000 bond posting, Lawlor is set to report to prison on September 30, 2020. His sentence also includes one year of supervised release following his imprisonment.

This high-profile case has been a collaborative effort between multiple agencies, including the DEA, Connecticut State Police, and local police departments from Stratford, Norwalk, Seymour, and Trumbull. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Karen L. Peck and Patrick J. Doherty are handling the prosecution.

For Lawlor, this is not just a legal battle lost but also a personal defeat that will leave an indelible mark on his life as he serves out his sentence in federal prison.
