Sean R. Marroquin, Counterfeit Currency Conspiracy, Pittsburgh PA, …

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – A trio of New Yorkers is facing the music in federal court after being slapped with serious charges for their alleged involvement in a counterfeit currency conspiracy. The United States Attorney David J. Hickton revealed that Sean R. Marroquin, 25, from Richmond Hill; Anyi Bohorquez, 20, from East Elmhurst; and Matthew Martinez, 21, of Corona, all face a bevy of charges including conspiracy, possessing counterfeit currency, and passing counterfeit United States currency.

The grand jury’s indictment was unceremoniously returned on April 24, pinning down the trio for their alleged activities on or about March 9, 2013. Marroquin is in the hot seat for conspiracy, while Bohorquez and Martinez are charged with conspiracy as well as passing and possessing counterfeit cash, respectively.

What’s at stake? The government isn’t playing around, setting a maximum sentence of five years in prison for Marroquin, 25 years for Bohorquez, and 25 years for Martinez. Additionally, the fines could reach a staggering $250,000 to $500,000 each, depending on their convictions.

Assistant United States Attorney Shardul S. Desai is leading the charge against these defendants, ensuring that justice is served on behalf of the government. The United States Secret Service deserves credit for conducting the thorough investigation that led to this indictment.

Remember, an indictment is just an accusation – the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The gritty world of organized crime has once again cast its shadow over these individuals, leaving a dark mark on their futures unless they can clear their names.

This case serves as a stark reminder that counterfeiting currency is no laughing matter and that those caught up in such schemes face severe consequences. Stay tuned to Grimy Times for more updates on this ongoing investigation.
