NYS Senator Charged in Superseding Indictment
Albany, NY – In a shocking turn of events, NYS Senator John Sampson, a Democrat, has been hit with a superseding indictment charging him with corruption and embezzlement. The indictment, handed down by a federal grand jury, alleges that Sampson misused campaign funds and embezzled over $400,000 in court-ordered restitution.
According to the indictment, Sampson, 54, used campaign funds to pay for personal expenses, including a down payment on a home in Brooklyn. The indictment also alleges that Sampson embezzled over $400,000 in court-ordered restitution, which was intended to benefit victims of a former associate.
The superseding indictment charges Sampson with one count of conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud, one count of honest services wire fraud, and one count of embezzlement of over $400,000. If convicted, Sampson faces up to 30 years in prison.
