Ocyris Morgan, Methamphetamine Possession, New York 2023

A Schenectady man has admitted to possessing and distributing large quantities of methamphetamine in New York.

Ocyris Morgan, 36, pled guilty to possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it.

According to court documents, Morgan intended to sell 21.4 grams of methamphetamine, which law enforcement seized from his house on June 1, 2023. When agents corrected him, stating they found between one-half and one ounce of methamphetamine, Morgan replied, ‘21.7, to be exact.’

Morgan also admitted to receiving $10,130 over the course of 12 instances in which he sold a total of 93 grams of methamphetamine and 50 grams of cocaine base to several customers. He further admitted to possessing a firearm and bulletproof vest.

The FBI’s Capital District Safe Streets Task Force, which includes the Schenectady Police Department, investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan S. Reiner is prosecuting the case.

When sentenced by Chief United States District Judge Brenda K. Sannes, Morgan faces a mandatory prison term of at least 5 years and up to 40 years, a fine of up to $5 million, and a term of supervised release of at least 4 years and up to life.

The sentencing date is not specified in the release.
