Ohio Man Sentenced to 47 Months for Methamphetamine Conspiracy
A Fremont, Ohio man has been sentenced to nearly four years in prison for his role in a large-scale methamphetamine trafficking operation that spanned across multiple states.
Trayvion Joaquin Scott, 25, was sentenced to 47 months in prison for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine in U.S. District Court in Gulfport, Mississippi.
According to court records, Scott was involved in a drug trafficking organization that began operating in Picayune, Mississippi as far back as 2015. Scott’s primary role in the conspiracy was making payments on behalf of the organization to their source of supply in California via money transfers.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and Homeland Security Investigations, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Erica Rose prosecuting the case.
The operation was part of a larger effort by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) to dismantle high-level drug trafficking networks. OCDETF uses a multi-agency approach, leveraging the strengths of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to disrupt and dismantle these networks.
U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee, Assistant Special Agent in Charge Anessa Daniels-McCaw of the Drug Enforcement Administration, and Acting Special Agent in Charge Eric DeLaune of Homeland Security Investigations made the announcement, highlighting the importance of the collaboration between law enforcement agencies in taking down these large-scale operations.
The sentence marks a significant blow to the organization, and serves as a reminder of the serious consequences for those involved in large-scale drug trafficking.
The case is a prime example of the work being done by the OCDETF to identify, disrupt, and dismantle the highest-level drug traffickers and their networks.
