Olvin Rodriguez-Inestroza, Distribution of Child Pornography, Louisiana 2024

U.S. Attorney Kurt L. Wall announced that Olvin Rodriguez-Inestroza, a 23-year-old Honduran national, has been sentenced to 180 months in federal prison for distributing child pornography in Louisiana. The sentence was handed down by U.S. Chief Judge Shelly D. Dick, who also ordered Rodriguez-Inestroza to serve five years of supervised release following his imprisonment.

According to the investigation, Rodriguez-Inestroza used internet-based accounts and a social media mobile application to distribute, trade, and receive child pornography. He also possessed hundreds of videos and thousands of images of child pornography on his smartphone, including some that involved toddlers and animal abuse.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Baton Rouge Police Department all contributed to the investigation, which was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward H. Warner.

The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. This program brings together federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children online, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

In addition to his prison sentence, Rodriguez-Inestroza was ordered to pay $57,000 in restitution to the victims and to register as a sex offender upon his release. As a Honduran citizen present in the U.S. without authorization, he may also face deportation upon completing his sentence.

This case is also part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at repelling the invasion of illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime.

The full resources of the U.S. government are being marshaled to combat the complex issues of child exploitation and immigration, with efforts streamlined through the Department’s Homeland Security Task Force and Project Safe Neighborhood.
