William Alexander Ruiz-Ponce, Attempted Coercion and Enticement of a Minor, Louisiana 2025

A 28-year-old Honduran national, William Alexander Ruiz-Ponce, faces a lengthy prison term after admitting to attempting to coerce and entice a minor for sex in Louisiana.

According to court records, Ruiz-Ponce used social media applications and text messages to convince someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl in Denham Springs, Louisiana, to engage in an illegal sexual relationship with him.

In February 2025, Ruiz-Ponce traveled to Denham Springs to meet the supposed 14-year-old girl, only to be met by an undercover law enforcement officer who had been posing as the minor.

Ruiz-Ponce was arrested and charged with attempted coercion and enticement of a minor after sending the undercover officer sexually explicit images of himself, including photos of his genitals.

The Honduran national pleaded guilty to the charges in U.S. District Court before Judge Brian A. Jackson and faces a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison, a $250,000 fine, and up to a lifetime period of supervised release.

Ruiz-Ponce is also required to register as a sex offender and is subject to removal or deportation from the United States upon completing his sentence.

This case was investigated by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Department of Homeland Security – Homeland Security Investigations, and Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stephen Vick and Special Assistant United States Attorney Allen Ross.

Ruiz-Ponce’s conviction is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
