Erixon O. Menjivar-Alfaro, Gun Sales to Felon, Nebraska 2024

Omaha’s streets have once again been witness to a brutal blow against gun violence as 20-year-old Erixon O. Menjivar-Alfaro has been sentenced to serve over four years for selling firearms to a known felon. United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods announced that Menjivar-Alfaro, of Omaha, Nebraska, was locked up for 51 months in federal court on June 25, 2025. There is no parole in the federal system, and upon his release, he will be subjected to a 3-year term of supervised release.

The illegal arms dealer operated out of his own vehicle, selling four firearms over a period from April 11, 2023, to October 3, 2023. On three separate occasions, Menjivar-Alfaro met with an Omaha Police Department confidential source at various locations, including a Walmart parking lot and the streets near 20th and A.

The first sale occurred on April 11, 2023, when Menjivar-Alfaro exchanged a Mack-11 pistol for cash. Just over a month later, he sold a Glock 43 handgun. His last known transaction took place on September 7, 2023, when he swapped a Glock-style Polymer80 9mm handgun with a high-capacity magazine for more money.

The most recent sale involved a Mini Draco 7.62×39 caliber AK-47-style pistol complete with a high-capacity magazine and ammunition. This exchange occurred outside of a residence near 20th and A streets. All transactions were facilitated by Menjivar-Alfaro, who was fully aware that his buyer was a convicted felon.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a collaborative effort to combat violent crime and gun violence in the community. The strategy focuses on fostering trust, supporting local organizations, strategic law enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes for public safety improvements.

Menjivar-Alfaro’s arrest and conviction were a result of a joint investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Omaha Police Department. The operation is a stark reminder that illegal firearm sales will not be tolerated, and those who engage in such activities will face significant consequences.
