Thomas Samborski II, Production of Child Pornography, Florida 2015

Orlando, Florida – The grim reality of child exploitation unfolded today as U.S. District Judge Carlos E. Mendoza sentenced Thomas Samborski II (41, Orange County) to 20 years in federal prison for the production of child pornography. The sentence also mandates a lifetime of supervised release following his prison term.

Samborski’s guilty plea came in July 2016, stemming from his online activity. On March 1, 2015, he posted sexually suggestive content featuring minors on a file-sharing site, triggering an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Agents acted swiftly, executing a search warrant at Samborski’s residence on March 6, 2015. The recovery was chilling: an iPhone containing hundreds of lascivious images, including one female child, produced just days before. Additional devices held a trove of other child pornography, depicting the sexual abuse of infants and minors.

Susan L. McCormick, special agent in charge of HSI Tampa, commented, ‘This criminal has caused irreparable harm to a young child. Samborski will now spend 20 years behind bars for his crimes.’ She expressed hope that today’s sentencing would bring some measure of closure to the victim and family.

HSI conducted the investigation, with Assistant United States Attorney Ilianys Rivera Miranda leading the prosecution. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
