Child Pornography Offense Lands Oregon Man 52 Months in Prison
Fayetteville, AR – In a disturbing case of child exploitation, Edgar Carlstrom, a 33-year-old man from Keizer, Oregon, has been sentenced to 52 months in federal prison for accessing the internet with the intent to view child pornography.
The sentence, handed down by the Honorable Timothy L. Brooks in the United States District Court in Fayetteville, also includes a $3,500 fine and ten years of supervised release. Carlstrom was found guilty of one count of Accessing the Internet with the Intent to View Child Pornography.
According to court records, the Northwest Arkansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received information in September 2014 that a user profile had uploaded pictures depicting child pornography to a Google account. The account was linked to a residence in Bentonville, Arkansas, where Carlstrom was living at the time.
Agents executed a search warrant on the residence and seized several electronic devices, including three laptop computers, an external hard drive, a USB drive, and three memory cards. A search of the devices yielded over 1,000 images and three videos containing depictions of child pornography, some of which featured children under the age of 12.
“Child sexual abuse leaves lasting scars on victims and the criminals who view images of this abuse are directly responsible for supporting the spread of these illegal images,” said Raymond R. Parmer Jr., special agent in charge of HSI New Orleans.
This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigation and the Northwest Arkansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Denis Dean prosecuted the case for the United States.
