Leone Alfano La Cava, Wire Fraud, FL 2023

ORLANDO, FL – In a stunning revelation from the United States Attorney’s Office in Florida, Leone Alfano La Cava (59), of Orlando, has been charged with 17 counts of wire fraud. If convicted, the accused faces a staggering 340 years behind bars, with each count carrying a possible 20-year sentence.

The indictment details an elaborate international real estate investment scheme orchestrated by La Cava, who is accused of defrauding at least 40 investors out of more than $4 million. The scam targeted individuals in Italy, convincing them to invest in properties in Orange County that he falsely claimed would yield guaranteed rental income.

According to authorities, La Cava utilized falsified deeds and loan documents to make it seem as though the investors were purchasing property owned by himself or one of his entities—Orlando Trust Investment Properties, Inc., or Golden Investment, Inc. However, it was later revealed that these properties did not exist, had never been owned by La Cava or his companies, or had already been sold to another investor.

La Cava is alleged to have used portions of the funds sent by investors for his own personal gain, bypassing any genuine investment activities. This brazen act of white-collar crime has shocked both the local community and financial circles alike.

The charges come as no surprise to law enforcement, with the Federal Bureau of Investigation leading the investigation into this case. Assistant United States Attorneys Roger Handberg and Nathan W. Hill will be prosecuting the case against La Cava.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has violated one or more federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
