Jason Eric Phifer, Molly Distribution, Florida 2023

Orlando, FL – In a ruthless blow to the illegal distribution of street drugs, Jason Eric Phifer, 33, from DeLand, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Gregory A. Presnell to six years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute ethylone, better known as the party drug Molly.

Phifer’s treacherous operation spanned from January to May 2015, when he ordered four shipments totaling approximately 5.25 kilograms of ethylone from a supplier in China. His downfall came on May 20, 2015, when U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) executed a controlled delivery of 1.5 kilograms of the drug to Phifer’s residence.

As Phifer welcomed the drug into his home, agents swooped in with a search warrant, seizing the 1.5 kilograms along with additional quantities from his bedroom. Phifer readily confessed to the agents that his intent was to distribute the ethylone across the United States.

This investigation and prosecution were led by Assistant United States Attorneys Vincent S. Chiu and Sean P. Shecter, who tirelessly pursued justice for this serious offense. The sentence handed down sends a clear message: the distribution of harmful substances will not be tolerated in Florida’s federal courts.

Phifer now faces years behind bars, reflecting the severe consequences of drug trafficking. This case underscores the ongoing efforts by federal law enforcement to dismantle sophisticated drug networks and protect communities from the dangers associated with illegal drugs.

The court’s decision has been met with a resounding applause from law enforcement agencies and concerned citizens who fought for justice in this case.
