Orlando Man Guilty of Possessing Child Sex Abuse Images
Orlando, Florida – In a disturbing case that highlights the ongoing threat of child sex abuse material, 73-year-old Lucio Daza Marquez has pleaded guilty to possession and receipt of child sex abuse material.
According to court documents, an undercover FBI agent discovered an Internet Protocol (IP) address sharing files containing child sex abuse material. The IP address was traced to Marquez’s residence, where FBI agents executed a search warrant and found multiple files depicting the sexual abuse of children on Marquez’s laptop and external hard drives.
During an interview with the FBI, Marquez admitted to downloading child sex abuse material and confessed to a decade-long habit of viewing such content. He revealed a disturbing preference for young girls approximately 12 years old and admitted to viewing videos involving infants.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Noah P. Dorman. This case is yet another example of the nationwide initiative, Project Safe Childhood, which aims to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims. Marquez faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 5 years, up to 20 years, in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set, but one thing is clear: the scourge of child sex abuse material will not be tolerated in our communities.
