Fort Wayne Man Sentenced to 192 Months for Methamphetamine Distribution

Fort Wayne, IN – A Fort Wayne man has been sentenced to 192 months in prison for his role in a methamphetamine distribution ring. According to court documents, 41-year-old Orlando Rodriguez distributed methamphetamine and/or possessed methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it on six separate occasions between March and October 2021.

During this same period, Rodriguez, knowing that he was a felon, possessed a firearm and knowingly possessed a firearm in furtherance of his drug trafficking activities.

U.S. District Court Judge Holly A. Brady handed down the sentence after Rodriguez pleaded guilty to eight counts charged in an indictment. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives with the assistance of the Fort Wayne Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley J. Miller Lowery. This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence.

Project Safe Neighborhoods is a program that aims to make neighborhoods safer for everyone. According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, on May 26, 2021, the program was launched with a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on the following core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.

Orlando Rodriguez’s sentence marks a significant blow to the methamphetamine distribution ring in Fort Wayne. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of law enforcement working together to combat crime and make communities safer.
