Crime on the Rise: Methamphetamine Trafficking Plagues California Streets
Grimy Times has learned that Orlando Torres Angulo, a 29-year-old Mexican national, has pleaded guilty to a string of serious crimes in California. According to court documents, Torres Angulo conspired with other individuals in both Mexico and California to distribute methamphetamine in pound quantities.
The brazen operation saw Torres Angulo arranging for the delivery of 4 pounds of methamphetamine to an undercover officer in Fresno. He later delivered another 2 pounds of the deadly drug to the undercover officer in Roseville. In a chilling conversation, Torres Angulo boasted that he would set aside 15 pounds of methamphetamine if the undercover officer came to his place in Tulare.
The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was a collaborative effort with the Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Team (TRIDENT). Assistant U.S. Attorney David W. Spencer is prosecuting the case.
Torres Angulo is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Kimberly J. Mueller on July 8, 2024. The maximum statutory penalty for the methamphetamine conspiracy and methamphetamine distribution counts is life in prison, while the use of a cellphone in aid of racketeering carries a maximum statutory penalty of five years in prison.
