Overland Park Man Faces 97 Months for Child Pornography

A disturbing case of child exploitation has come to light in Kansas, with a 70-year-old Overland Park man pleading guilty to distributing child pornography.

Frank Joseph Kurtz, 70, of Overland Park, Kansas, was found to have been distributing child pornography on the Internet while posing as a 46-year-old woman, according to U.S. Attorney Tom Beall.

The investigation, which involved the Israeli National Police and the FBI in Kansas, uncovered a trail of emails in which Kurtz used the alias “Lisayearning46” to send child pornography to another person.

Kurtz registered with Yahoo under the name “Lisa Lewis” and used photos he found on the Internet as his profile picture, further solidifying his online persona.

The plea agreement has both parties recommending a sentence of 97 months in federal prison, with sentencing set for July 10.

U.S. Attorney Tom Beall commended the FBI, the Heart of America Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Kim Flannigan for their work on the case, highlighting the importance of collaboration in bringing child exploiters to justice.

As the investigation continues to unfold, one thing is clear: the consequences for those who exploit and harm children will be severe.

Kurtz’s actions have left a dark stain on the community, and it is only right that he faces the full force of the law.

The people of Kansas deserve to feel safe, and it is up to law enforcement to ensure that those who would seek to harm the most vulnerable among us are held accountable.
