Oxnard Duo charged in ICE Riot Violence

Law enforcement has made a bold move, arresting ten defendants, including Oxnard residents Virginia Reyes, 32, and Isai Carrillo, 31, on federal complaints charging them with engaging in violence against law enforcement officers and property during anti-ICE rioting earlier this year.

The Justice Department’s Acting United States Attorney Bill Essayli emphasized the zero tolerance stance against such acts of violence. ‘There is zero tolerance for violence against law enforcement officers,’ he stated, underscoring the department’s commitment to justice.

Attorney General Pamela Bondi echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that any act of violence against law enforcement is an attack on civilized society. Carrillo was arrested today and expected to appear in court later this afternoon, while Reyes remains a fugitive.

The affidavit filed with the complaint reveals how agents with the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) encountered numerous protesters during their operation at Glass House Farms in Camarillo. The operation had been compromised due to social media posts alerting protesters early on.

Virginia Reyes and Isai Carrillo are charged with conspiracy to impede or injure a federal officer, a felony that carries a potential sentence of up to five years in federal prison. The ATF’s Special Agent in Charge Kenny Cooper emphasized the importance of peaceful protest but reminded that ‘assault is a crime’ and will be met with severe consequences.

Carrillo faces immediate court appearances, while Reyes remains at large. The FBI is urging anyone with information about these individuals to come forward for a potential reward of up to $10,000.
