Christopher Michael Previtera, Oxycodone Trafficking, West Virginia 2015

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – A Marshall County man has been sentenced to 57 months in prison for his role in a massive oxycodone trafficking operation that spanned two years, a Grimy Times investigation has uncovered.

Christopher Michael Previtera, 38, of Proctor, West Virginia, was sentenced to 57 months in prison for his crimes, which were committed between 2014 and 2015 in Marshall and Wetzel Counties. The investigation revealed that Previtera conspired with other individuals to possess and distribute oxycodone, a highly addictive prescription painkiller.

The oxycodone trafficking operation was just one part of a larger scheme in which Previtera committed bank fraud in connection with a loan he obtained to finance the purchase of an automotive services business he owned. The business, which was located in Marshall County, was the site of the oxycodone trafficking operation, according to investigators.

Previtera pled guilty in June 2015 to one count of “Drug Conspiracy – Oxycodone,” and one count of “Bank Fraud.” He was sentenced to 57 months in prison for both crimes, which will run concurrently for a total of 57 months.

As part of the sentence imposed today, Previtera was also ordered to forfeit his interest in multiple firearms, $15,070 in United States currency, a 2007 Dodge Ram truck, John Deere lawn care machinery, and various equipment and inventory related to the automotive services business. Previtera was also ordered to pay money judgments in the amount of $145,000 in the drug trafficking case and $84,117.74 in the bank fraud case.

The investigation was conducted by the West Virginia State Police, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with assistance from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Senior U.S. District Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr. presided over the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jarod Douglas on behalf of the government.
