Tampa, FL – A grim day in the courtroom as George Puskas II, a 66-year-old resident of Palm Harbor, was sentenced to six years and six months in federal prison for receiving child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The sentence handed down by U.S. District Judge Mary S. Scriven also mandates $46,000 in restitution and requires Puskas to register as a sex offender.
Puskas pleaded guilty on March 27, 2025, admitting his collection of the sickening material that included images of minors under the age of 12, as well as depictions of sadistic and masochistic conduct. The FBI’s investigation uncovered hundreds of photos and dozens of videos during a forensic search of Puskas’s electronic devices.
The agency’s probe, which stretched from December 2022 to August 2023, relied on a file-sharing program that allowed agents to connect to one of Puskas’s devices. This led to the execution of a search warrant at his home in September 2023, resulting in the seizure of several electronic devices.
Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice since May 2006, played a pivotal role in this case. The program, aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse, brought federal, state, and local resources to bear on Puskas’s case. Assistant United States Attorney Ross Roberts prosecuted the case.
Investigation and prosecution were handled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Largo Police Department. For further information about Project Safe Childhood, the public is encouraged to visit www.justice.gov/psc.
