Paris Walker, Distribution of Cocaine, Illinois 2023

ROCKFORD, Ill. – A Freeport man has been sentenced to a decade behind bars for distributing cocaine in the Northern District of Illinois.

Paris Walker, 39, pleaded guilty earlier this year to one count of distribution of a controlled substance. U.S. District Judge Iain D. Johnston handed down the 10-year sentence during a hearing on Thursday in federal court in Rockford.

Walker admitted to knowingly and intentionally distributing cocaine to a confidential informant for the government from 2019 to 2022. The total amount of cocaine involved in the offense and relevant conduct was at least 30.3 grams.

The illicit substance was distributed over multiple occasions, with Walker possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute it each time. This brazen act of cocaine distribution has landed him a lengthy prison sentence.

U.S. Attorney Andrew S. Boutros and Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Field Office of the FBI Douglas S. DePodesta praised the efforts of Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert S. Ladd in securing the conviction.

The harsh sentence is a testament to the dedication of law enforcement agencies to combat the scourge of illicit drug trafficking in the region. Walker’s actions will now be met with the consequences of a lengthy prison term.

The Northern District of Illinois will continue to work tirelessly to root out those involved in the illicit drug trade and bring them to justice.
