Patricia Ann Raborn, Theft of Government Funds, Oklahoma 2006

Theft of government funds has landed an Ardmore woman in hot water, as Patricia Ann Raborn, 56, has pleaded guilty to the crime in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The charge, brought by the United States Attorney’s Office, stems from an investigation by the Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General, which revealed that Raborn had been embezzling Social Security Disability Income payments to which she was not entitled.

According to the Indictment, Raborn began receiving the payments in or around July 2006 and continued to do so until in or around February 2014, with the total value of the stolen funds exceeding $1,000.00. Furthermore, the Indictment alleges that Raborn was aware of an event that would have affected her eligibility to receive the payments as early as March 2005, but failed to report it until October 2012.

The guilty plea was accepted by The Honorable Kimberly E. West, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee. As a result, a presentence report has been ordered, and sentencing will be scheduled upon its completion.

Raborn faces a statutory range of punishment of not more than 10 years imprisonment and/or up to a $250,000.00 fine. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Rob Wallace, who represented the United States in the matter.

The Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General, played a crucial role in bringing Raborn to justice, and their efforts serve as a reminder that the government takes the theft of government funds very seriously. As the case moves forward, it will be interesting to see how the sentencing unfolds and what message it will send to those who would seek to exploit the system for their own gain.

In the meantime, the people of Oklahoma can take comfort in knowing that their government is working tirelessly to protect their tax dollars and ensure that those who would seek to steal from the system are held accountable. The case of Patricia Ann Raborn serves as a prime example of this commitment to justice and accountability.
