BOSTON – In a brazen case of deception, Patrick Quinn, former owner and operator of an Arlington-based insurance agency, has been sentenced to one year and one day in prison followed by one year of supervised release for fraudulently receiving disability benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Social Security Administration (SSA).
Quinn, 50, of Arlington, was convicted by a federal jury on April 12, 2022, of two counts of theft of public funds and two counts of making false statements. He was subsequently sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Richard G. Stearns on November 8, 2022.
Since January 2012, Quinn has stolen more than $380,000 in Veterans Affairs benefits and Social Security benefits by falsely telling the VA and SSA that he was unable to work due to a disability, when in reality, he owned and operated Quinn Insurance Group, Inc.
Quinn claimed to be disabled and unable to work, despite owning and operating his own insurance agency. He was self-employed as the owner and operator of Quinn Insurance Group, Inc, since at least March 2003, and served as the President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Director of Insurance Management Consultants, Inc. from 2000 through 2007.
Quinn has already paid restitution in the amount of $281,439 to SSA, and he was ordered to pay an additional $98,940 to the VA. His actions were exposed through an investigation by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Inspector General, Northeast Field Office, and the Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General, Office of Investigations, Boston Field Division.
