Child Predator Caught: Iowa Man Sentenced to Prison for Child Pornography Offenses

In a shocking case of child exploitation, a former Muscatine man has been sentenced to prison for producing, receiving, and distributing child pornography. Patrick Vincent Maddox, 42, of Mobile, Alabama, was handed a 180-month prison sentence by United States District Court Chief Judge John A. Jarvey on February 24, 2021.

According to the investigation, Maddox was linked to the crimes after abandoning a Muscatine residence in 2017, leaving behind seven electronic storage devices. The devices were reviewed, and suspected child pornography was discovered, leading to their seizure by law enforcement. A forensic review of the devices uncovered child pornography in six images and a video produced by Maddox.

The video, in particular, was disturbing, as it captured Maddox setting up his cellular phone in a bathroom, videotaping a minor child nude. This heinous act has left the community shaken and outraged.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.

Maddox’s sentence also includes five years of supervised release following his imprisonment. This means that once he completes his prison term, he will be under close supervision by law enforcement to ensure he does not reoffend.

The people of Iowa can rest a little easier knowing that this child predator is behind bars, unable to harm any more innocent children. However, the community must remain vigilant, as there are still many more cases of child exploitation waiting to be solved.
