Paul A. Speer, Child Pornography, Ohio 2025

A notorious child predator from Toledo, Ohio, has been handed a 20-year prison sentence for his involvement in the production and distribution of child sex abuse materials.

Paul A. Speer, 56, was sentenced to 240 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey J. Helmick on November 2025, after pleading guilty to Receipt of Child Pornography. This heinous crime is a stark reminder of the dark underbelly of human depravity that plagues our society.

According to court documents, Speer’s downfall began in December 2024 when staff members at a local Best Buy store in Toledo contacted the Toledo Police Department to report that a desktop computer dropped off for repair by Speer was suspected of containing CSAM. Pursuant to a search warrant execution, a forensic analysis of his electronic devices was conducted, which revealed more than 570 images and videos of CSAM.

The disturbing files included depictions of toddlers being raped and molested, as well as several files that featured the molestation of prepubescent children and bestiality. The discovery of these vile materials sparked an immediate investigation led by the FBI Toledo Resident Agency and the Toledo Police Department.

During the investigation, agents conducted a criminal history search of Speer and learned that in November 2000, he was convicted of three counts of rape of a child under the age of 13. This horrific crime is a stark reminder of the long-term damage that child predators can inflict on their victims.

Speer’s sentencing marks a significant victory for law enforcement and the community, who have worked tirelessly to bring him to justice. As part of his sentence, Speer will also be required to serve a lifetime of supervised release after his imprisonment, pay $3,000 in restitution to victims, and pay $2,000 toward the Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Assistance Act.
