Andrew Raymond Crum, a 33-year-old man from Toledo, Ohio, has admitted to engaging in sex acts with a 16-year-old girl from Missouri. The illicit relationship began in 2021 when the girl was just 14, after the two met on social media. Crum started driving to Missouri to have sex with the girl in February 2024, and also exchanged explicit images and videos with her via Snapchat, using the alias ‘Sassy Man’.
The FBI was tipped off about Crum’s plans to return to Missouri in October 2024, and subsequently located and contacted the victim and her mother. This led to Crum’s guilty plea in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to one count of coercion or enticement of a minor.
Crum’s case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 29 and faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison.
The investigation was carried out by the FBI, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Dianna Edwards prosecuting the case. The outcome serves as a reminder of the importance of Project Safe Childhood and the need for continued efforts to protect children from online predators.
