Bank Robber Sentenced to Prison in Overland Park
A brazen bank robbery in Overland Park, Kansas, has finally come to an end with the sentencing of the perpetrator. Paul A Sundquist, a 30-year-old man from Louisburg, Kansas, was handed a six-month prison sentence for his role in robbing the Stanley Bank on September 19, 2016.
The shocking incident saw Sundquist stroll into the bank, brandish a note, and demand cash from the clerk. Witnesses reported that Sundquist fled the scene in a pickup truck, but not before a bystander managed to catch a partial tag number on the vehicle.
Sundquist’s attempt to evade capture was thwarted when he was monitoring police radio traffic on his cell phone. Upon hearing his tag number, he called 911 and surrendered to authorities.
U.S. Attorney Tom Beall commended the FBI, the Overland Park Police Department, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Terra Morehead for their tireless efforts in bringing Sundquist to justice.
According to court documents, Sundquist pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery. The harsh sentence handed down by the court should serve as a stark warning to anyone considering a life of crime.
In addition to his prison sentence, Sundquist will serve two years on supervised release, with six months of that time being spent under home confinement.
