PENSACOLA, FLORIDA – In a hard-hitting blow against gun crime in the Sunshine State, Ralphael Roy Caldwell, 35, has been sentenced to 42 months in federal prison for possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. The sentence was announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
“Fulfilling the promise of President Donald J. Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi to Take Back America from violent criminals requires close collaboration between our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners,” said U.S. Attorney Heekin. “I am very appreciative of the outstanding work of the Pensacola Police Department and the ATF to get this criminal off our streets, and my office will continue to aggressively prosecute these cases to keep our communities safe from violent criminals.”
Evidence presented at trial revealed that on September 10, 2024, during a traffic stop, Caldwell was found in possession of a loaded pistol. His previous convictions included principal to attempted home invasion robbery with a firearm and shooting into a building.
The sentence is the outcome of a joint investigation by the Pensacola Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Alicia Forbes. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations and protecting communities from violent crime.
