Bennie Charles Deloach, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Florida 2024

Bennie Charles Deloach, 36, of Cantonment, Florida, faced the harshest penalties for his role in the methamphetamine trade as he was sentenced to 14 years behind bars. The former drug kingpin pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute over 50 grams of meth or more than 500 grams of a substance containing meth. United States Attorney John P. Heekin, representing the Northern District of Florida, announced the sentence.

In a statement, U.S. Attorney Heekin emphasized the gravity of meth’s impact on public health and safety, thanking local law enforcement for their relentless pursuit of such traffickers. ‘Meth is a dangerous drug, and we will not tolerate its spread in our community,’ Heekin said.

The crime spree began when Deloach attempted to flee from the Pensacola Police Department after being stopped for active felony warrants. The chase ended with Deloach hitting two vehicles before his foot pursuit. During the chase, officers recovered over 830 grams of meth from a backpack dropped by Deloach.

Chief Brown of the Pensacola Police Department highlighted the importance of proactive law enforcement in drug prevention. ‘It’s about anticipating and disrupting supply chains,’ he said. ‘Illegal drugs have no place in our community, and we will use all means to combat them.’

DEA Miami Field Division Special Agent in Charge Deanne L. Reuter echoed the sentiment, asserting that those who distribute meth in Florida will be held accountable for their actions.

This conviction is a result of a joint investigation by the Pensacola Police Department, DEA, and Gulf Coast HIDTA Task Force, with Assistant United States Attorney Jessica S. Etherton handling the prosecution. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to combat illegal immigration, eliminate cartels, and protect communities from violent crime.
