Bennie Charles Deloach, a 36-year-old from Cantonment, Florida, was handed a 14-year prison sentence for his role in the distribution of over 830 grams of methamphetamine. The charge stemmed from an incident where officers pursued Deloach after he fled from a traffic stop with warrants. They recovered the drugs from his backpack and vehicle.
United States Attorney John P. Heekin emphasized the threat posed by methamphetamine, praising law enforcement efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks. ‘Meth is a danger to our community, and we will not tolerate it,’ said Heekin.
Pensacola Police Department Chief Brown highlighted the importance of proactive law enforcement in combating drug use. ‘We anticipate crime, disrupt supply chains, and work together to stop it all,’ Brown stated.
DEA Miami Field Division Special Agent in Charge Deanne L. Reuter reinforced the commitment to protecting Florida communities from drug traffickers. ‘Our priority is the health and safety of our citizens,’ Reuter said.
The case was a joint investigation by the Pensacola Police Department, DEA, and Gulf Coast HIDTA Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica S. Etherton handled the prosecution. This conviction is part of Operation Take Back America, a DOJ initiative aimed at eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations.
