NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – On July 20, 2023, Percy Smith, a 43-year-old resident of New Orleans, La., pleaded guilty to a two-count indictment. Sentencing is set for October 26, 2023, announced U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans.
Smith is charged with possessing a firearm as a previously convicted felon on two separate occasions: June 19, 2021, and June 30, 2021. He is accused of violating Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(g)(1) and 924(a)(2).
According to the charges, Smith faces a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000, a period of up to 3 years of supervised release, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.00 per count.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in New Orleans.
