CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Jordan Perez, 21, of Lockhart, Texas, has become the second individual to plead guilty in a chilling conspiracy involving the kidnapping and transportation of aliens, followed by a deadly shootout that terrorized Charlottesville residents.
Perez’s guilty plea comes as part of Operation Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative aimed at restoring law and order amidst the chaos caused by illegal immigration. The operation targets cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and violent crime perpetrators.
According to court documents, Perez and his co-conspirator Ricardo Ordaz, along with others, abducted multiple victims who had entered the United States illegally, demanding cash ransom for their release.
The scheme reached a tragic climax when, during an exchange in Charlottesville, a shootout ensued after it was revealed that the full ransom was not available. The violence led to the shooting death of one kidnapper and further terrorized the community.
United States Attorney C. Todd Gilbert emphasized the gravity of such crimes, stating, “We will not tolerate individuals taking advantage of those who illegally enter our country.” ICE Homeland Security Investigations Washington, D.C. acting Special Agent in Charge Christopher Heck echoed this sentiment, vowing to investigate and apprehend anyone threatening community safety.
This case is a testament to the Department of Justice’s commitment to protecting American communities from violent crime and illegal immigration. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sally J. Sullivan is handling the prosecution of Perez.
