Methamphetamine Conspiracy Nets 7-Year Prison Sentence

A 27-year-old Jamestown, NY, resident has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine in western Pennsylvania, according to federal authorities.

Peter Shawbrougham, 27, was sentenced to a total of 7 years in prison followed by 4 years supervised release on his conviction of conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine.

The sentencing was imposed by Senior United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson in federal court in Johnstown, Pa.

According to information presented to the court, Shawbrougham conspired to distribute the methamphetamine from July 2019 through June 2020.

Assistant United States Attorney Maureen Sheehan-Balchon prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung commended the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Pennsylvania State Police for the investigation that led to the successful prosecution of Shawbrougham.

A multi-agency investigation involving numerous law enforcement agencies contributed to the successful prosecution of Shawbrougham. These agencies include the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation, the United States Postal Inspection Service, Homeland Security Investigations, Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, Clearfield County District Attorney’s Office, Erie County District Attorney’s Office, Millcreek Police Department, and Erie Bureau of Police.

The case was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation, which targets high-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations that threaten communities throughout the United States.

This approach leverages the strengths of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to disrupt and dismantle these networks.
