Emmanuel Sia, Armed Carjacking, Pennsylvania 2025

PHILADELPHIA – United States Attorney David Metcalf dropped a heavy hammer today as he announced the sentencing of Emmanuel Sia, 22, to 120 months in the clink for his role in a violent armed carjacking. The court’s decision came via United States District Judge Paul S. Diamond.

Sia was indicted in August last year on one count of carjacking and another for using, carrying, and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. He pleaded guilty to both charges in May this year, bringing an end to the saga of the Northeast Philadelphia carjacking.

As detailed in court documents, Sia and two others targeted a 26-year-old man in broad daylight. With their semiautomatic pistols aimed at the close range of the victim, they pistol-whipped him, stripped his phone, and drove off with his Dodge Charger.

The chase was brief but intense. Philadelphia police tracked down the stolen vehicle and pursued it into a fiery crash on Castor Avenue. The stolen car went up in flames, but not before all three suspects were apprehended by law enforcement.

Sia’s co-defendants, Leevah Mills and Kysime Brown, haven’t fared much better. Mills was handed over 11 years in September, while Brown got his 10-year sentence earlier this month. Together, they bring a stark reminder of the gravity of their crimes.

This high-profile case has been a joint effort by the Philadelphia Police Department and the FBI, with Assistant United States Attorney Thomas M. Zaleski leading the prosecution. The delayed posting of the press release is a curious footnote to this tale, as it was held up due to the federal government shutdown from October 1, 2025, to November 12, 2025.
