Philadelphia Man Charged with Gun and Pot Crimes
Nicholas Suozzo, 32, of Philadelphia, PA, has been charged by indictment with nine counts of serious crimes, including possession of unregistered firearms, distribution and possession with intent to distribute marijuana within a school zone, and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
According to United States Attorney Zane David Memeger, the charges were brought against Suozzo after a thorough investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
The indictment alleges that Suozzo possessed machine guns and explosive devices, in addition to marijuana, which was allegedly distributed and possessed with intent to distribute within a school zone.
Additionally, Suozzo is charged with possessing firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
If convicted, Suozzo faces a maximum possible sentence of life imprisonment, a mandatory consecutive 5 years imprisonment, at least 4 years up to lifetime supervised release, a $770,000 fine, and $600 special assessment.
The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Joseph Whitehead, Jr.
Suozzo’s charges are a stark reminder of the serious consequences of engaging in drug and gun crimes. The Philadelphia Police Department and the ATF are to be commended for their tireless efforts in bringing this case to justice.
