Pine Ridge Man Guilty of Abusive Sexual Contact

A Pine Ridge, South Dakota man has been found guilty of Abusive Sexual Contact, a serious crime that has left a victim traumatized.

Edwin Grass, Sr., age 30, was sentenced on January 14, 2016, by Chief Judge Jeffrey L. Viken, U.S. District Court, to time served, 5 years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

The crime occurred on June 5, 2013, at Pine Ridge, when Edwin Grass, Sr., had unwanted sexual contact with a sleeping female.

Grass was indicted for the charge on January 22, 2014, and pleaded guilty on September 11, 2015.

The conviction is a result of a joint investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Indian Affairs Office of Justice Services, and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety.
