Grimy Times can exclusively report that a 20-year-old man from D'Hanis, Texas, has been taken into custody for allegedly manufacturing pipe bombs, a federal crime that could land him behind bars for up to 10 years.
Michael Keich, the suspect, was apprehended earlier today by federal agents who executed a search warrant at his residence. During the raid, authorities discovered a pipe bomb as well as materials used in the production of explosive devices.
According to the criminal complaint filed in this case, Keich admitted to manufacturing the pipe bombs despite being aware that such activity is against the law.
Upon conviction, Keich faces a maximum prison sentence of 10 years. He is currently being held in federal custody pending a detention hearing scheduled for later this week.
The investigation into Keich's activities was a collaborative effort involving agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Uvalde County Sheriff's Office, and the Medina County Sheriff's Office.
A bomb squad from the FBI and the San Antonio Police Department successfully rendered the suspected device safe outside the defendant's residence.
The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Carah Helwig on behalf of the government.
A criminal complaint is merely a charge and should not be considered as evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
