Adam C. Garcia, a 31-year-old Wichita man, has been sentenced to 126 months in prison for selling a deadly combination of illegal drugs and explosive devices to an undercover federal agent. Between March 2024 and April 2024, Garcia sold cocaine, fentanyl, and pipe bombs to the agent, either directly or through a coconspirator. The sales took place in Wichita, Kansas, and included 316.05 grams of fentanyl, 67.59 grams of cocaine, and three explosive devices.
Garcia pleaded guilty to one count of drug conspiracy and faced the music for his crimes. The investigation was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), with Assistant U.S. Attorney Kari Burks prosecuting the case. U.S. Attorney Ryan A. Kriegshauser noted that selling narcotics is bad enough, but combining it with pipe bombs could have turned deadly if the devices had ended up in the wrong hands.
The case also involved three other defendants. Anthony Stephen Dennis, 27, was sentenced to 46 months in prison, while Jonathan Scott Peacock, 42, received 18 months. Paola Michelle Sosa-Rios, a Mexican national, pleaded guilty to related charges and is awaiting sentencing. The ATF’s efforts to keep explosive devices off the streets have paid off, at least in this instance, and the community can rest easier knowing that these dangerous devices are no longer in circulation.
