Pittsburgh Man Convicted of Heroin Trafficking
A federal jury has convicted a Pittsburgh man of heroin trafficking, according to federal officials.
Thirty-one-year-old Rodney Howard was found guilty of one count of possession with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin, a Schedule I controlled substance.
The evidence presented at trial established that on or about September 18, 2014, Howard possessed with the intent to distribute 100 grams or more of a mixture and substance which contained heroin.
Howard was tried before United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Assistant United States Attorneys Cindy K. Chung and Stephen Gilson led the prosecution, presenting evidence that linked Howard to the heroin trafficking operation.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Howard.
At sentencing, Howard faces a maximum total sentence of not less than five years and up to forty years in prison, as well as a fine of $5,000,000. The actual sentence imposed will be determined by the seriousness of the offense and Howard’s prior criminal history.
Howard is scheduled to be sentenced on April 18, 2016, at 2 p.m.
